Sri Sathya Sai Baba
package Sri Sathya Sai Baba was born Sathyanarayana in the village of Puttaparthi on 23rd November 1926. From childhood he is reputed to have shown concern for his fellow human beings and to have performed numerous miracles. Over the year the number of his devotees has swelled to hundreds of thousands and his message of service to other has become very popular. He has a large following in Europe, North and South America as well as Japan.His main ashram is at Puttaparthi, which is 165Kms from Bangalore. He also has a smaller ashram at Whitefield a suburb of Bangalore.

The ashram runs a modern charitable hospital at Puttaparthi as well as numerous educational institutions. Accommodation at the ashram is simple and Spartan and mainly in dormitories. He gives daily darshan (public appearance) at dawn as well as in the afternoon. This is followed by the singing of Bhajans (religious songs).

At Puttaparthi accommodation is also available in budget hotels outside the ashram. In the weeks leading to Sai Baba's birthday there is usually a big rush of devotees from the world over to Puttaparthi.
